How it works

From connecting an account to seeing the post go out — the full path a piece of content takes through Autoposting Tool.

1. Connecting a social account

Connecting happens through the platform's own authorization screen. In the dashboard you choose the network you want to add, and you are sent to Instagram or TikTok to sign in and review the permissions being requested.

You approve the request on the platform's own page. Only then does the platform hand Autoposting Tool an access token for that account. Autoposting Tool never sees your social login or password — it only ever receives the token that you authorized.

Once the account is connected it appears in the dashboard and can be selected as a destination for posts.

2. Composing a post

A post consists of a caption, one or more media files, and the list of accounts it should go to. Media is uploaded to your own server first, so the same file can be reused later without uploading it again.

Per-platform settings live next to the post — for example, whether an Instagram item is a feed post or a story, or whether comments are allowed on a TikTok video.

3. Publishing or scheduling

You either publish immediately or pick a date and time. Scheduled posts are stored in a queue on your server; a background worker wakes up when a post is due and delivers it to each selected platform.

4. What happens on each platform

Instagram

The post is published straight to the connected Instagram account at the scheduled moment, using the permissions granted during authorization.

TikTok

The video is delivered into the TikTok inbox of the connected account as a draft. TikTok sends the account owner a notification; they open the TikTok app, review the video, adjust anything they want and press publish themselves.

This means nothing appears on a TikTok profile without the account owner explicitly publishing it inside TikTok's own app.

5. Confirming delivery

Every post keeps its own delivery status. A post is queued until its scheduled time, published once the platform has accepted it, or failed if the platform rejected it — in which case the error returned by the platform is stored with the post so the cause is visible.
